Empowering Communities: North Fork WRAP Project Takes Flight!

In a concerted effort to safeguard our communities and preserve our precious water resources, Jefferson Conservation District (JCD) and Denver Water have embarked on an ambitious journey. Together, with the generous support of the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) through their Wildfire Ready Watersheds (WRW) initiative, and with matching funds from Denver Water and Aurora Water, we are thrilled to announce the initiation of the North Fork of the Upper South Platte Wildfire Ready Action Plan (North Fork WRAP). The Vision: A Fire-Resilient Future

The North Fork WRAP project is a testament to our commitment to proactive conservation. Over the course of the next 12 months, we will be diligently working on multiple fronts to create a comprehensive and robust action plan.

Project Phases: Building Resilience Step by Step

1. Stakeholder Outreach: Engaging our community is at the heart of this initiative. We believe in the power of collaboration and will be organizing stakeholder meetings facilitated by a professional to gather insights and ideas from the people who matter most: our community members.

2. Data Assessment: Knowledge is key. We will identify existing data, assess data gaps, and evaluate values at risk. This meticulous process ensures that our action plan is grounded in the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

3. Hazard Analysis: Understanding the potential risks is vital. Our experts will conduct thorough hazard analysis to pinpoint areas susceptible to wildfires, allowing us to tailor our strategies effectively.

4. Susceptibility Analysis: Delving deeper, we will analyze susceptibility factors, identifying vulnerable elements within our community and environment. This step is crucial for devising targeted solutions.

5. Pre- and Post-Fire Preparedness: Preparation is our shield against adversity. With the insights gained, we will develop a comprehensive pre- and post-fire preparedness plan. This plan will equip us to respond swiftly and effectively, minimizing damage and ensuring the safety of our community.

A Collaborative Endeavor

We acknowledge that the journey ahead is challenging, but it is also filled with opportunities. Together with the expertise of technical consultants and the active participation of our community, we are confident in our ability to create a resilient and fire-ready North Fork community.
